Vacuum Cleaning
The vacuum equipment in my routine.
I can honestly say that my process would break down without the Record Doctor vacuum machines powering it.
As I’m writing this, I currently have two of their machines, the RDVI and the RDX (the RDXI is on the horizon), and both are being used to remove fluid between steps.
The entire goal of record cleaning is to keep the groove clear so the stylus can track without running into obstructions and contamination. That includes residue left behind from the cleaning fluid itself. Multiple rinses in an ultrasonic bath may achieve this, but that would take a lot more time and distilled water. With a vacuum machine, nearly all of the fluid is removed before the record moves on to the next step. That greatly reduces contamination or residue from moving forward. Coupled with an ultrasonic rinse near the end of the process, I can rest assured the record will be ready to play.
